Slot machine simulator

A three-reel machine with its weights and paytable printed on the page — which no real slot does. Spin it and watch the return converge on the theoretical figure. The point is not the game; it is seeing what "96% RTP" feels like from the inside.

Spin a hundred times and the number above will be nowhere near the theoretical one. Spin ten thousand and it will be close. That gap is the product.

What a real slot hides

This machine publishes its reel weights, so you can compute the RTP yourself: sum, over every symbol, the probability of three-of-a-kind times its payout, plus the probability of exactly two times its payout. That comes to 96.25%.

A real slot gives you the paytable and withholds the weights, which is the half that matters. Two machines with identical paytables can run at 96% and 88% purely through how often each symbol is placed on the reel strips. Regulators require the RTP to be disclosed somewhere; almost nobody reads it, and the crypto casinos often list it per-game in a help article rather than on the machine.

Hit frequency is the other lever. This machine pays something on 61% of spins — it feels generous. But 38% of those "wins" return less than the stake: a 0.5× hit on a 1-unit bet is a 50% loss dressed up with a sound effect. That is deliberate, it is industry-standard, and it is why slots feel busy while returning less than any other game on the floor.

How to use the slot machine simulator

  1. The reels spin continuously on a paytable printed in full below them.
  2. Note how many "wins" pay less than the stake.
  3. Spin 10,000 at once and compare the observed RTP to the published figure.
